Our Resampled Selves is a solo, DIY, Synth/Rock project of Chicago-based songwriter Ben Marotta. Originally a guitar player in past Electronic and Indie Rock acts, the project has become an outlet for Marotta to experiment more deeply with vocals and synths while continuing to grow as an instrumentalist and producer. The inspiration behind the project was a combination of discovery (in the form of new musical gear and tech) and a time bestowed love and appreciation for the creative musical process in its entirety. Being an entirely solo effort at this point, it seemed appropriate to choose a name for the project that reflected the fluidity of self, and how manifestations of self appear in the works we create. Influenced by Electronic, Trip Hop, Indie Rock, Soul, and too many other styles to name, Our Resampled Selves aims to create evocative music in an agnostic style.
